During the Games the station’s noticeboards gave information on results; since then the comments have turned wry

There was consternation among local residents when plans were announced partially to close the station for the duration of the sporting event.
But in the event, Transport for London (TfL) relented and Hackney Wick was open during the Games, complete with buskers and some of the best-loved station staff in London.
