Hackney Singers feature on packed Stokebourne bill
A longstanding community choir is set to take part in a musical extravaganza in Stoke Newington later this month.
Hackney Singers are on the line-up for Stokebourne – a festival celebrating the 170th birthday of St Matthias Church from 26 June to 1 July.
The 150-strong choir, which itself is marking its 50-year anniversary, will take centre stage on 29 June inside the church, which is hosting the entire festival.
Other events include an evening of Greek and Cypriot music on 27 June.and a set by acclaimed jazz musicians Alison Rayner and Deirdre Cartwright on 30 June.
The festival will be brought to a close with a gala on 1 July, which organisers are calling ‘Last night of the Prams’. Expect more music and singing, and a two-course barbecue.
