Underground car park fire below block of flats caused by ‘boiler fault’
Around 25 firefighters and four fire engines tackled a fire in an underground car park on Lea Bridge Road on Friday 9 June.
There were no reports of any injuries, however a small part of the car park was damaged by fire.
The fire brigade was called at 6:38pm and crews from Stoke Newington, Leyton and Tottenham fire stations rushed to the scene.
On arrival they found the car park was heavily smoke-logged, and the crews ventilated the area.
By 7:41pm, just over an hour later, the fire was under control.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by a fault within a boiler.
