Reconnect with the world at Autograph gallery tomorrow as it hosts art-inspired wellbeing day
Shoreditch’s Autograph gallery is set to host a wellbeing day this weekend, helping visitors to examine the relationship between the body and its surroundings.
The event on 22 October will involve workshops, led by Lateisha Davine Lovelace-Hanson, designed to awaken attendees’ sense of play and rest as well as to help them reconnect with the world around them.
Lovelace-Hanson is an interdisciplinary artist and community organiser with 15 years of experience across intersectional practices bridging the gaps between art, nature and human spirit using performance, installation, mentorship and more.
She will lead attendees through activities including breath work, writing, land and water practices, soundscaping and more.
The activity day has drawn inspiration from the Rivington Place gallery’s current exhibition, Mónica de Miranda: The Island, which explores African experiences of migration and identity, and that comes to a close tomorrow.
Autograph director Professor Mark Sealy said of the exhibition: “Mónica de Miranda is one of Europe’s leading contemporary artists, and Autograph is proud to have commissioned her to create new work for The Island.
“The exhibition offers audiences an opportunity to reflect on Portugal’s entangled colonial histories, memory, and African diasporic experiences.”
The event will run from 2pm until 5.30pm at Autograph, Rivington Place, EC2A 3BA, and tickets cost £8.
