Titbits – Binnie-Lubbock’s ‘man bun’, an eye on election expenses, and Delingpole on Dalston
◆ After tittering about Alastair Binnie-Lubbock’s “man-bun” at the Hackney South hustings, conversation between Meg Hillier’s supporters turned to the Conservative party’s infamous Google advert, taken out to boldly reclaim the “truth” behind the so-called “dementia tax” – Theresa May’s bullet-riddled social care policy. “Don’t click on it!” one Labourite screeched, worried that doing so would help the opposition’s cause. “Don’t worry,” came the hushed reply. “Every time we press it, it costs them money.” Cue lots of finger-tapping. Sounds like the Tories ought to keep an even closer eye on their election spending this time around.
◆ Geographical confusion for Richard Delingpole on Twitter. In a back-and-forth about the iniquities of Dalston, where he once resided, the brother of ex-Times hack and climate change sceptic James declared: “But Hackney’s even worse.” As scandals go, it doesn’t compare to Dick doctoring himself into an image with Hitler, but with his penchant for medieval re-enactments, you’d think the moustachioed former UKIP candidate would at least know the region he was attacking.
