Staff at Homerton Hospital are “delighted” after the country’s leading health watchdog gave their community services a ‘Good’ rating.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) carried out an extensive review of healthcare in Hackney during a week-long visit in February.

They spoke to patients, staff and managers, and observed the care being delivered in clinics, health centres and people’s homes.

Community services provided by Homerton University Hospital Trust were rated ‘Good’ in five main categories – safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Chief Nurse Sheila Adam said: “We are delighted that our services and sites came through this full and thorough inspection so well, and that the CQC values our work so highly.

“What was so rewarding was the number of very positive comments from patients which the inspectors received.”

The inspectors reported that all the community facilities were clean and clutter-free, and found staff to be caring and friendly with patients and families.

The Trust’s chief executive Tracey Fletcher said: “We are aware that more can be done and work is underway to continue to improve our services. However, in the meantime, our community staff deserve every praise for their efforts which have been recognised through this visit.”
