Michael Jackson auditions coming to Hackney Empire
The Shaftesbury Theatre’s Motown the Musical is looking to Hackney to find a new young Michael Jackson for the production.
Open auditions will be held for the part on Saturday 18 March at Hackney Empire on Mare Street from 9:30am.
The musical’s director Charles Randolph-Wright, who last summer mentored participants in the Empire’s Artist Development Programme (ADP), explained that he and the casting team are “looking for boys who have excellent singing and acting skills and of course, must also be able to move like Michael!”
Candidates must be male, black or mixed race, aged 8 to 13, and have an unbroken voice.
Motown the Musical, tells the story of label founder Berry Gordy. using 50 Motown tracks played by a 16-piece orchestra.
Hackney Empire ADP alumnus KM Boateng is among new members of the cast announced recently.
