Traffic warden ‘lashes out at driver’ for filming him on his mobile phone
Shocking footage has emerged of a traffic warden appearing to strike out at a driver who was filming him in Hackney.
The incident occurred after the warden allegedly warned the motorist that he would receive a ticket in the post after he dropped off a relative at Homerton Hospital last Thursday.
Reports suggest the man had driven off after spotting the inspector near his car. As the warden continued to follow him, the motorist asked why he would get a ticket if he was already driving away and began filming with his mobile phone.
In the 20-second clip, which was later posted on social media, the unnamed driver says: “I’m recording a video, can you please answer me? It’ll be on YouTube tonight. Thank you very much.”
The warden then approaches the car before appearing to lash out angrily at the driver’s phone through the open window.
A spokesperson for Hackney Council said it is looking into the alleged incident and “has passed the available details provided by the complainant to the borough’s parking service contractor APCOA to investigate.”
A spokesperson for the parking management company said: “APCOA has a strict code of conduct which we expect our employees to adhere to. We’re currently investigating this matter, and we will take appropriate action once we have concluded our investigation.”
