Today Studios: a workspace to thrive in
It is news to no one that Hackney is the thriving hub of London’s creative scene. With the highest concentration of freelancers in the UK and arguably the best coffee in the city, it is impossible to roam the streets of the East End without feeling the creative pulse of a city at work.
These laptop dwelling designers, illustrators, writers and creatives must work somewhere and Today Studios is on a mission to bring them together, championing a new vision – to give London’s creatives a workspace they can thrive in.
Today Studios, a co-working space in the heart of Hackney, is the brainchild of Accept and Proceed and is managed and run by Erica Routledge owner of 119 Lower Clapton, a hotspot on Hackney’s coffee trail.
A light, bright, blank canvas, the ground floor studio is advertised as a workspace for designers by designers. Today is fully serviced, boasting open plan desk spaces overlooking the building’s courtyard. The internet is incredibly fast and there are soundproof booths, a meeting/presentation area along with a kitchen, shower, lockers and bike storage.
The onsite cafe and meeting area opens up to create an amazing event space with an already planned schedule of talks curated by Accept & Proceed the space is available for members to use or businesses to hire
There is also around 2000 square foot of office space available to on the first floor and Today hopes to attract another creative company that can both benefit from and add to the the co-working environment.
Branding is minimal, yet considered. With the interior designed by Aldworth and James & Bond, lighting and accessories specially curated by London’s homewares mecca, Goodhood and sweatshirts designed by Christopher Raeburn, available for both staff and members, there is an undeniable sense of quality. A designer’s touch is evident in all aspects of Today and the space is understated, yet energised, affording creatives the opportune environment to do what they do best.
Today Studios offers a welcomed alternative to the large company-owned co-working spaces spreading across the city. An extension of Accept & Proceed’s desire to work with creatives from other fields on more varied projects, they hope to bring to life a workspace that not only inspires, but gives rise to networking opportunities and effective collaboration. Desks are priced at £350, a competitive price in a city becoming increasingly unaffordable for young creatives. A small, independently run studio, Today is the start of a fresh new approach to London’s ever-changing creative environment.
