Titbits – hipster brewing, Twitter pruning and the canine Tony Hawk
◆ Is London Fields Brewery up for sale or not? The business was put on the market earlier this year owing to “issues surrounding the owner’s past” and a “dispute” with the taxman. The opportunity to buy the business was described in a brochure from estate agents Davis Coffer Lyons as “unique.” But the brewery has since undergone a fancy and presumably expensive rebrand and applied to hold boxing nights at one of its venues. The business insisted it was still “looking for investment.” The estate agents told us there was “a process going forward” but could not say if that meant an offer had been put in. How bizarre.
◆ Hackney North and Stoke Newington MP Diane Abbott hastily deleted tweets referencing Ken Livingstone shortly after his suspension from the Labour Party last month – but the tweets were all harmless enough, just retweets of statements by Ken in support of Jeremy Corbyn and setting out why Labour was “right to stand up to McDonalds.” Nothing about Jews or Israel or Zionism, in other words. An aide to the MP told one political journalist the deletions had been “probably part of a general clear up.” But since the internet is limitless, why bother?
◆ “There was a french bulldog skateboarding in Clissold Park this morning,” Fiona Longmuir, a professional storyteller and self-described “walking calamity” tweeted this month. She added: “Have we reached peak Stoke Newington?”
