Labour’s Jennette Arnold wins fourth term on London Assembly with landslide majority
Jennette Arnold OBE has won by a huge majority a fourth term as London Assembly Member for the North East constituency, which includes Hackney.
The Labour politician took 58.7 per cent of the vote in the constituency race, with Conservative candidate Sam Malik in second place on 14.2 per cent.
Following the announcement of the result Ms Arnold tweeted: “Great privilege to be re-elected as AM 4GLA North-East London Constituency with an awesome majority of over 100,000.”

Green party candidate Samir Jeraj came third with 12.9 per cent.
Liberal Democrat Terry Stacy finished in fourth place with 6.3 per cent of the vote, Freddie Vachha for UKIP was fifth with 4.9 per cent and Tim Allen for Respect in sixth on 2.2 per cent.
Socialist Party candidate Bill Martin and Communist League candidate Jonathan Silberman trailed the pack with 0.5 and 0.2 per cent respectively.
London mayoral votes in the North East constituency
Voters in the North East constituency threw their support behind Labour’s London mayoral candidate Sadiq Khan by a large margin compared to his nearest challenger, the Conservatives’ Zac Goldsmith.
Khan won 60.1 per cent of first-preference votes in the North East constituency to Goldsmith’s 17.7 per cent.
Green Party candidate Sian Berry placed third in the North East on 8.8 per cent of first preferences.
Liberal Democrat Caroline Pidgeon came in fourth with 3.8 per cent.
Women’s Equality Party candidate Sophie Walker won 2.9 in the North East.
UKIP candidate Peter Whittle polled 2.4, George Galloway gathered 1.7 per cent of the mayoral vote for Respect, and five other candidates took the remaining votes between them.
