Police issue urgent appeal to trace missing 84 year-old Raymond Pearce
An elderly man who suffers heart problems and becomes easily disorientated has been missing since Sunday, after he wandered away from his home near Hackney Downs with no explanation.
Police are “extremely concerned” about Raymond Pearce, 84, who was last seen at 11am on 7 March leaving his sheltered accommodation in Benabo Court, Ferncliff Road.
This is not the first time he has gone missing – previously he has been found in the street in Lewisham.
Mr Pearce, also known as Lennie or Lennox, is black, 5ft 6ins and of slim build. He has grey wispy hair. He has no upper teeth and only two lower teeth.
He was last seen wearing a black cap, black trousers and black leather bomber jacket.
Police believe he has no travel card or mobile with him and are growing increasingly concerned due to his “age, health condition and level of impairment”.
Detective Inspector Paul Ridley from Hackney CID is urging the public to assist his team in locating Pearce. He said: “It is crucial that he is located as a priority. He is known to frequent pubs and is likely to be seeking shelter from the cold.”
Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call police on 101 or Missing People on 116000, quoting the reference number: 16MIS006949.
