Titbits — CGI suits, targeted tweets and skeletons in the shadows
■ Props to the developers that have the brazeness to dress their CGI people in suits. Hawk-eyed canal campaigners have noted that the designs for the redevelopment of popular canalside Holborn Studios include tiny corporate cartoon-people peering out from double-velux sliding doors, quaffing martinis and dressed in fifty shades
of grey.
■ Sounding like a Lynx deoderant ad is never good. Unfortunately, Hackney Council’s managed to do just that whilst tweeting a shout-out for more people to take part in its ‘Hackney: A place for everyone?’ survey. “Men- it’s time to make yourself heard. We want your ideas on how we can make Hackney a better place.” Immediately, Catherine Dean shot back “Tbh I think #men make themselves heard pretty adequately overall #patriarchy etc”. “We’re looking for balance” tweeted the exasperated Town Hall, “we’ve had 64 % women and only 34 % men!”
■ The press went into spasms of joy at the tittle-tattle that Diane Abbott was an old flame of new Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. Titbits is obviously far above such idle gossip, but the view expressed by commentator Linda Grant rather sums it up: “Well, of course Diane Abbott and Jeremy Corbyn had a brief relationship in the 1970s, culminating in a motorbike tour of East Germany… Everyone had sex in the 1970s, because that’s all there was to do.” Let’s hope the rest of the skeletons stay locked in the cabinet.
