Police attacked with bottles after teenager stabbed on Chatsworth Road

A group of around 30 people attacked police with bottles after they were called to assist a teenager who had been stabbed on Chatsworth Road.

Officers were called at around 11.30pm on Saturday night to reports of a stabbing, and were met by a “volatile” crowd with their faces covered.

An 18-year-old was found with stab wounds to his upper body and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

In a statement, Scotland Yard said: “Officers at the scene were threatened by a large group of around 30 people. The group had covered their faces and threw bottles and other missiles at police.

“One emergency response team officer pursued and apprehended a suspect in connection with this incident despite continuing threats from a volatile crowd.”

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon and affray.
