Titbits — Spin, festive faux pas and crafty brewery tours

■ The council is a true master of communication. A recent jewel was in an e-mail containing a press release titled: ‘Please be vigilant to phone scammers’. Upon further perusal it became clear that the warning was actually being issued because the council had leaked everyone’s phone numbers online. The apology was buried in the bottom paragraph.

■ One beady­-eyed resident spotted a magnificent malfunction in the Town Hall’s festive lighting (see pic below).

■ Diane Abbott might not be world­ renowned for her diplomatic decision ­making but her diary team proved they had done their research when they strategised her tour of Hackney breweries. All the hop-masters got a visit from Diane except poor old London Fields Brewery.

■ The Town Hall made another gaffe when it tweeted its preparations were underway for Remembrance Sunday… on the 7 January. That’s either a little late or very early. Lest we forget?
