Casablanca restaurant closed down after drugs found on premises
A Caribbean restaurant in Dalston was temporarily closed down this week after a police search found drugs on the premises.
Casablanca, a takeaway on 170 Sandringham Road, had its alcohol license suspended last Wednesday after police obtained a search warrant and found class A and B drugs at the property.
A closure notice was then served by officers from the council and the police on 22 July.
The restaurant will now remain closed until the court hearing on 4 August when the future of the restaurant will be decided.
The court dismissed a request by the defence to continue trading.
Earlier on 11 July, police had applied for the expedited review of Casablanca’s premises license “on the basis of prevention of serious crime and or disorder”.
That same week an application was also made by Mr and Mrs Cameron of 170 Sandringham Road who requested an extension of the supply of alcohol and recorded music until 4 am.
