Hackney-based social enterprise leads the way as living wage employer
Hackney-based social enterprise Poached Creative has become the latest company in the borough to be recognised as a London Living Wage employer.
Jessica Smith, Director of the communications agency, which is based in Well Street, was last month presented with a certificate at the Hackney Citizens’ Mayoral Assembly, part of campaign group Citizens UK, which has been highlighting the issue of low pay for years.
Businesses in Hackney borough have a poor track record when it comes to paying their employees fairly, Ms Smith said.
She added: “The cost of living in Hackney is rising and we would like to see more businesses in the borough supporting their employees with fair pay and good employment conditions.
“Helping unemployed and disadvantaged people into employment is what Poached is all about and we have always aimed to be a model of good employment practice.
“The London Living Wage accreditation is public recognition of our commitment to our employees and our community.”
