Elite wheelchair basketball players to shoot hoops at Hackney Sparrows base
Elite players from around the country will come together for London Wheelchair Basketball’s first ever 3 v 3 tournament on Saturday 6 July.
The event will take place on the home courts of Hackney Sparrows wheelchair basketball team and will feature some of the club’s top players.
Eight teams of three will compete in a winner take all tournament, while the adjoining court will feature a number of different competitions aimed at giving rookies the chance to try wheelchair basketball.
Event organiser Israel Vidal will also be launching a three point challenge, which is open to everyone.
“The aim is to try and shoot as many three point shots (from outside the D on the court) in one minute. The whole world will be able to compete, as we will be inviting people to post movie clips online.”
The competition gets underway at 3pm at SPACe Falkirk Street N1 6HF. There will be spare sports wheelchairs available for anyone who wishes to take part.
