University of East London calls on students to back ‘Reuse, Reduce, Recycle’ campaign
Clothing banks and donation points where students can drop off unwanted possessions have been set up in University of East London (UEL) halls of residences as part of a drive to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
UEL says belongings are often left behind when halls are vacated in its Docklands campus and it is urging students to rid their wardrobes of unwanted clothing, CDs, DVDs, books and other items and donate these to charity shops.
UEL sustainability officer Emily Hamilton said: “This is the perfect opportunity for our students to be both charitable and environmentally friendly with their unwanted items. We would strongly encourage students and staff to look out for the red collection bins, and take advantage of this convenient new service by having a clear out and donating their unwanted items.”
The scheme runs until June 16.
