Hackney free school signs funding agreement
Hackney New School has become the first Free School opening in 2013 to sign its funding agreement.
The agreement, signed on 26th February, lays out the framework within which the Free School will operate, and is one of the final stages in the process toward opening the school.
In a letter to the Chair of Governors, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools John Nash described Free Schools as an “integral part of the Government’s education policy to improve choice and drive up standards in schools.”
The school, which has secured a site on Downham Road, have hired the architectural firm Henley Halebrown Rorrison to design the space.
In 2011, the Shoreditch-based firm were named Public Building Architect of the Year. Work on the site is set to commence this spring.
