Kirsty Treloar death – Hackney teenager Myles Williams found guilty of murder
A teenager from Hackney has been convicted of the murder of his girlfriend. Defendant Myles Williams, aged 19, of Pond Farm Estate, E5, was found guilty of the brutal murder of 20 year old Kirsty Treloar. The young mother was attacked and stabbed on 2 January 2012 in her family home.
Police arrived at a house on Brownlow Road, E8, early on the morning of the 2 January after reports of a disturbance. They found the victim’s 22 year-old brother and 24 year-old sister with stab wounds after they had attempted to protect their sibling, who had been abducted after also being attacked in their home.
Kirsty’s body was found soon after in Ryder Mews E9, near an abandoned Fiat Stilo owned by Williams that he had used to transport her from the location of the attack. She was pronounced dead on the scene at 8.34am.
A post-mortem examination of the body found multiple stab wounds to be the cause of death, although a precise time or location of the death could not be established. After a short manhunt, Williams was apprehended in Hackney on 3 January and held in police custody.
The killing took place following a text message conversation between the defendant and his ex-girlfriend when she refused to meet up with him that day, which resulted in what DCI Andy Yeats of the Homicide & Serious Crime Command referred to as, “an appalling and violent attack by an individual with a propensity for violence towards women.”
On 21 September 2012, Williams was convicted at the Old Bailey for the murder of Kirsty Treloar and also with GBH with intent for the attacks on her relatives.
The victim’s brother and sister were released from a hospital in East London a short time after the incident.
Myles Williams will be sentenced tomorrow (Wednesday 26 September).
