3.00pm Sarah Birch writes:
“As Hackney girl Anne Keothavong showed her stuff on the tennis court, rows of empty stands gave rise to speculation as to whether seats had been well-allocated.
“Had more Olympic borough residents and the independent local press got a look-in, they might not have had to draft in the military to get a respectable number of bums in place…
“In the meantime, the weather on the streets returned to this summer’s normal rhythm of sun-rain-sun.
“During an early afternoon sunny stretch, a group of cyclists staged a ‘flashride’ in protest at the closure of the Lea towpath. The group set off from Eastway and cycled the official diversion route to highlight its dangers”.
Police made us ride over Bow flyover instead of roundabout on #ridethediversion cos ‘too dangerous even with police escort’ #citizencurators

“On Market Mile today we witnessed the first in a series of Sunday openings on Broadway Market, whilst the booksellers at the new Goldsmith’s Rob Book Market marked their tenth week. Shoppers and stallholders made the best of a soggy day, huddling under awnings during downpours”.
