A 36-year-old passenger was stabbed on a train between Dalston Kingsland and Canonbury last Wednesday (4 April).

The man, from Kentish Town, was attacked following a row on a train at around 9:30pm.

Detectives from British Transport Police have now released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

The incident happened after the suspect and the victim accidentally collided as the suspect – who was having a heated phone conversation at the time – boarded the London Overground at Dalston Kingsland.

Detective Constable Tony Gittins, of BTP’s Criminal Investigation Department said:

“This led to a verbal altercation between the two before the victim walked away and moved further down the carriage; however, the suspect followed him before pulling out what is thought to be a knife.”

“A struggle ensued, with the victim receiving three wounds to his upper body. The man then left the train at Canonbury, the next station, before making off from the scene.”

DC Gittins added: “We’ve been able to quickly seize these very clear CCTV images and I’m urging anyone who recognises this man to come forward.”
