Pedestrian dies after Hoxton hit and run – police appeal for witnesses
A 26-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Kingsland Road, Hoxton, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Two suspects were seen fleeing a blue Ford Fiesta after the collision on Saturday 25 February.
Officers were called to the incident near the junction with Orsman Road at around 2am, in which a local man was hit.
The pedestrian, believed to be Dexter Kibble, 26, was taken by ambulance to hospital where he died of his injuries 12 hours later. Next of kin have been informed although a formal identification has not yet been completed.
A man and woman, aged 20 to 40, were arrested following the collision on Saturday, though both have been bailed pending further police inquiries next month.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events immediately before or after the incident, to contact them immediately. Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw two people running away from the Fiesta.
Sergeant John Woods from the Road Death Investigation Unit (RDIU) said: “These people may not realise the consequences of their actions, which has left a young man dead and a family devastated – I would urge them to do the decent thing and contact the police at the earliest opportunity.
Anyone with information should call the RDIU on 0208 3454955, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
