‘Wild Hackney’ podcast nominated for BBC Audio Drama Awards
The Hackney Podcast’s Wild Hackney has been shortlisted for two of the inaugural BBC Audio Drama Awards.
The innovative audio productions created by Francesca Panetta and colleagues have won several plaudits since the launch of the project in 2008.
In 2010 the Podcast won two Radio Production Awards, Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2010 and 2011, and a New York Festivals Program Award in 2010.
The highly crafted monthly programmes are free to download, and feature an eclectic mix of politics, environmental issues and scenes from local life alongside cutting-edge art, literature and music.
The Audio Drama Awards aim to celebrate and recognise the cultural importance of audio drama, on air and online, and to give recognition to the actors, writers, producers, sound designers, and others who work in the genre.
The winners will be announced by actor David Tennant at a ceremony to be held on Sunday 29 January.
