Riots sentencing: Hackney residents speak out by hackneycitizen

The eruption of violence and looting that took place in August continues to be investigated by the powers that be.  Who knows what their conclusions will be?  Whilst we wait, the Hackney Citizen asks local residents what they think of the sentences meted out to those convicted by the courts.

The riots happened here on our doorsteps and many of those involved are now feeling the full force of the law.  Some say the sentences have been too harsh, unfair and that the government is using the situation to score political points.  But not everyone agrees: one local residents says the more severe sentences are justified because people could have died.

The Hackney Citizen went back to the scene of the riots on Kingsland Road and asked residents how they felt about the sentences handed out to those involved.
