There’s a definite old skool odour wafting from the East Village for the Vintage London launch party, featuring as it does such luminaries as Utah Jazz + MC Darrison (2 hour album launch set), DJ N-Type (Wheel N Deal Records/Rinse FM), DJ Flight (Metalheadz/1 Xtra), Technicolour (Mixmag/Technique Records) and 23 DJ (Knowledge Mag). Online music hellraisers Vessel make the tough transition into the real world with their launch party featuring Vincent Olive (LOAF), Andrew Thomson (Huntley & Palmers Audio Club) and Kit Grill (Vessel Music). Bridging the gap welcomes a DJ set from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (Greco Roman), friend and ally of Marshall Jefferson and Annie Mac, with support from Count Chocula, Toot Sweet and The Fat C (ASM) 9pm-3am, free. The Alibi, 91 Kingsland High Street.
Rumours of Barden’s death have been flying around for a while. Nevertheless, this one’s billed as a closing party so if you like the place it’s probably worth heading down just in case. 9pm-4am, £5. Barden’s Boudoir, 36 Stoke Newington Road.
A very German-sounding night at a very Russian-sounding bar, Frietag brings you Underground techno house from James Monday, Dimity Slusarenko and guest DJ/producer Daniel Kyo. 9pm-5am, free before 10pm, £7 after. The Russian, 267 Kingsland Road E2 8AS.
Wednesday 7 July

Your old pals Tim & Barry present the odious sounding ‘Dirtee Stanks Just Jam’, which is in fact Dizzee Rascals 1st signing to his label, Newham Generals, exclusively showcasing their new EP at Just Jam. When asked in Sister Act 2 what her favourite music is, the formidable presence which is Whoopi replied in her lacquered tones: “My music taste is eclectic y’all.” This was the inspiration for the club night Eclectic Like Whoopi. Unsurprisingly, the music policy is a no holds barred genre-defying mash up 9pm-3am, free. The Alibi, 91 Kingsland High Street.
School of Seven Bells bring a hint of psychadelia to N16. The only way to get tickets to this gig is to buy a copy of So7B’s second album, but seeing as the first scored 9/10 from NME, this should be no great hardship. 8pm – late. ‘Dirty Dalston?’ you cry ‘but I dry cleaned it only last week!’ – that won’t matter to Trouble Vision lads Oli D.A.B & Robin, or A.Child (Phonica) and the Fresh Milk DJs. They’ll just continue to play you house, techno, garage, funky and dubstep styles. 9pm-3am, Free. The Alibi, 91 Kingsland High Street.
Choose Your Own Adventure makes the bold and possibly dangerous move of offering free absinthe shots from 9.30pm. Anyone then in possession of all five senses should be able to smell, touch or even hear electro bombs dropped by DJs Readers Wife’s from Duckie and Blonde Ambition. 9pm-3am. Free. New event Vintage House Foundation launches, presumably to the sound of horns and old school synth patterns, as Stuart Patterson, Jimbo Robins (House Dance UK) and Junior Richards drop forgotten house gems from ’87 to ’07, while the lounge delivers a quality disco selection from Andy Bird (Love Fever), Ronnie Turner and Temporary Secretary. 9pm-3.30am. £6 before 11pm, £8 after, East Village, 89 Great Eastern Street.
Another secret party, for which Potty Mouth Disco have become so famous, brings electro-indie heat with a ‘Ny Lon’ (New York-London) theme, featuring live sets from Shy Child and In Flagranti (NY) and Dj sets from Punks Jump Up, Gold Blood and Stockholm Massacre (Lon). 9pm-5.30am. £12, £10 before midnight, adv £7-£5. Shoreditch Park braces itself for the return of the 1234 Shoreditch Fest, brainchild of 1234 records founder Sean McLusky. Always a welcome fixture on the festival calendar, this year features (deep breath) A1 Bassline, Autokratz, Bo Ningen, Peter Hook, Jodie Harsh, Shunda K (Yo Majesty!), Drop the Lime, Toddla T & MC Serocee, Dark Horses, Egyptian Hip Hop, Kool Kids Klub, Le Shark, Maria And The Mirrors, We Have Band, Zombie-Zombie, and much, much more spread liberally across five stages.
