Tune in soon to Stokey TV

Tony Nicholls came up with the idea of Stokey TV, and the project was motivated by the fact that, as Tony puts it, “there is very little stuff that people can do about what they feel in this society. All the news that people see is nothing to do with them, and they feel completely helpless and powerless.”

Stokey TV is designed to overcome that problem by becoming “a real community hub, an information point, a medium for self-expression”.

Due to launch in November, Stokey TV will be one of few local internet channels in the UK. As well as making their own videos, the team will be visiting fairs and other local events, working with schools, and holding public meetings to encourage and invite others to make theirs, too.

The group are open-minded about what their TV channel will become. “You can’t really predict what happens, but you put energy into it, and things start coming back”, says Tony. Stokey TV is Ed Brown, Lily Grimes, Tony Nicholls, Katy Orkisz and Harry Robbins.
