Daniel Rodriguez, also known as rapper “Grymey D”, has been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment after being having found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with at least five schoolgirls.

The 28-year-old from Hackney, who was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court today (29 July), played on his image as a rapper and groomed his victims via social media.

He used Facebook, Instagram and BlackBerry Messenger to pay them compliments about their appearance and tell them he loved them.

He would then invite the girls to his home, where he filmed himself having sex with them.

The girls were as young as 14 and 15 years old.

Detective Superintendent John Macdonald of the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: “Rodriguez’ exploitation and targeting of young girls was disgusting.

“He used social media to groom children online, paying them compliments, pretending to be affectionate and then sexually abusing them.

“Unfortunately this is a pattern of abuse we are increasingly seeing. Social media enables people who want to have sex with children to approach scores if not hundreds of them online in an attempt to meet up.”

Detective Constable Jon Knox, the officer in the case for the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command urged any other potential victims of Rodriguez to speak to the police.
