A man was arrested outside Hackney Council offices on Hillman Street.

A 52-year-old man was arrested at Hackney Service Centre on Wednesday evening after he refused to leave the building.

Police were called just before 7pm to the council’s service centre on Hillman Street. The man would not leave despite the centre being closed, and became aggressive with staff.

Police have confirmed a man was arrested at the scene for ABH (assault occasioning actual bodily harm), assaulting a police officer and public order offences.

The man was taken to an east London police station and was later released after accepting a caution for assault on a police officer and offences under the Public Order Act.

A spokesman for the Town Hall confirmed the incident took place but had no further comment.
