They have a unique range of optical frames and sunglasses sourced from around the world.

Open 7 days a week, staff offer professional and honest advice to make you look and feel great in your new eyewear.

The latest lens technology and frame-fitting service means your glasses certainly wont be ‘askew’.

We can also check you have the most up-to-date contact lenses.

New contact lens ranges arrive on a regular basis, they are varied and unique.

Askew Eyewear has its own range of optical frames and sunglasses that are all handmade in Berlin.

Vintage and one offs can often be found in this quirky to classic range chosen by Tonya the owner on her travels.

Oliver Peoples, Paul Smith, Persol, Rayban, Miu Miu, Etnia, Italia Independent and William Morris are just some of the brands that are regularly available.

There is a great selection for all ages and a play area provided.

A baby gate is on the main door preventing the shop dog Ruby, a border terrier, from nipping off to Clissold Park.

So be prepared to give her a cuddle.

Eye tests are £28.50.

This may be refundable by your employer if you work on a computer for more than an hour a day.

You qualify for a free NHS-funded sight test if: you’re aged under 16, you’re aged 16, 17 or 18 and are in full-time education, you’re aged 60 or over, you’re registered as partially sighted (sight impaired) or blind (severely sight impaired), you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma, you’re 40 or over, and your mother, father, brother, sister, son or daughter has been diagnosed with glaucoma you’ve been advised by an ophthalmologist that you’re at risk of glaucoma, you’re eligible for an NHS complex lens voucher – your optometrist (optician) can advise you about your entitlement.

You’re also entitled to a free NHS sight test if you: receive Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (not Contribution- based), Pension Credit Guarantee Credit, are entitled to, or named on, a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate, receive Employment Support Allowance or you are named on a valid NHS certificate for full help with health costs (HC2).
