Two assaults in space of a week close to Mare Street pubs

Two early morning assaults have taken place in the space of a week, just yards apart and both in the vicinity of Mare Street pubs.

Yesterday (Sunday) a man was beaten up close to The London Fields pub, Mare Street.

Police were called at around 4.45am and found a man suffering from injuries, but the victim did not want to take the matter further.

One witness suggested he may have been a long-distance truck driver who was dragged from his cab by three men who punched him in the face and broke his nose and teeth after he parked up near London Fields to sleep.

The incident happened exactly a week after a man suffered serious head injuries after being punched in the face in the vicinity of The Dolphin pub, which is around two minutes’ walk from The London Fields.

The attack happened at around 5am on Sunday 12 May and police have appealed for information regarding the incident.
