Hackney schools’ GCSE results rise again

According to new figures, 57% of all Hackney school GCSE exam entrants achieved five GCSE A*-C grades in 2011, including English and maths, up two percentage points on 2010.

Across the UK 59% of entrants achieved these grades.

Figures for individual schools varied between 43 and 86 per cent.

Steve Belk, Acting Chief Executive of The Learning Trust, said: “Hackney’s schools continue to improve ahead of many other London boroughs. At post-16, we are the most improved borough in the country for the average point score per student.

“We will continue to work closely with secondary schools to bring even further improvements in teaching and learning.

“We’d like to thank teachers and students for working so hard throughout the year and we look forward to an even better set of results next year.”
