The family of a Hackney man shot dead on New Year’s Day are appealing for people with information about the murder to come forward.

Aarron McKoy was shot in Portpool Lane, Clerkenwell, shortly after 4am and later died of his injuries.

Mr McKoy, from Hackney, was celebrating his 22nd birthday when he was killed.

The McKoy family have released a statement appealing for those with information to come forward:

“I’m sure people know who killed my brother and I just pray that if they search their hearts they will do the right thing.

“From now on not only will my family and friends remember Aarron’s birthday at New Year’s but also his death. New Year’s will never be the same for our family again, you may be out celebrating, but we will be mourning.

“Someone out there knows who killed my brother…

“All I want is to get justice for Aarron and to stop another family going through the horror of what we are dealing with.”

If you witnessed the murder, or have any information regarding the shooting, the police request that you contact the incident room on 020 8733 4212 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
