Dear Sally,
Thanks so much for spreading the word! It's so important to remember and celebrate those who fought for the Lido to remain open and I really hope my event can do that for them and the local community. Good luck with Broomhill Pool - don't give up! Adriana

Have posted this up on Yahoo Lidos and Yahoo Pooling Resources as it's wonderful to see the celebration for London Fields Lido

The fight for Broomhill Pool continues, with the campaign now in its eighth year - if any London Fields supporter would like to send messages of encouragement, please write in to the Evening Star (Ipswich) eveningstarletters(at)eveningstar.co.uk or the East Anglian Daily Times eadtletters(at)eadt.co.uk

In October Ipswich Borough Council placed advertisements for Expressions of Interest in Broomhill Pool on commercial leisure websites and three operators have come forward. But... the timing of the advertisement appears to have been dovetailed in with the expiration of their offer of the million pounds towards restoration. (Was due to expire on December 31st 2009; the Broomhill Pool Trust petitioned for an extension but this was not granted)

The Executive of Ipswich Borough Council duly met on 15th December 2009 and resolved to remove the million pounds from the Council's budget. Councillor Judy Terry informed Executive colleagues that all the operators had been told that there was no money on the table for them.

Outside operators now have until February 10th 2010 to complete their proposals for the site.

The London Fields campaign remains a source of inspiration as we still have another decade to go before matching your perseverance!
