Teenager found stabbed to death in Stoke Newington

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following the murder of a 19-year-old man in Stoke Newington.

Police were called shortly after 23:00hrs on Thursday, 19 November to reports of man stabbed in Yoakley Road, N16.

On arrival, police discovered a 19-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe they know his identity and have informed next of kin; formal identification is awaited.

A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place today at Poplar Mortuary, and an inquest will open and adjourn in due course.

Officers from the Met’s Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating, and an incident room has opened under DCI John Macdonald.

DCI Macdonald said, “The victim was stabbed following an altercation with two male suspects. We also know that a silver vehicle left the scene shortly after the incident, travelling along Yoakley Road into Church Street.

“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see or hear anything suspicious? I urge anyone that has information that can assist this investigation to contact us. We retain an open mind regards motive at this very early stage.”

There have been no arrestsso far; the police are continuing with their enquiries.
